“We build Communities by standing on the shoulders of others from the past and learning from them”
Uxbridge is a safe and friendly rural community that is very proud of it’s history.
If we work together we can keep our community healthy, safe and successful.

Bev Northeast has been on Council from 1991 to 2014 and served the 23 years as a ward councillor and 4 years as Deputy Mayor
I was born and raised in the township of Uxbridge and attended school in Uxbridge and furthered my education through Business College in Oshawa and Durham College Business administration courses.
The Green Belt
The Green Belt is our protection but we must constantly be vigilant as everything can be changed as we have witnessed in other communities.
I am committed to preserving the Rural Areas of the township as rural areas are being over run with development in other communities which is going to destroy the industry and production of food to feed the huge subdivisions being established on farm land.
With the loss of farm land it will increase our costs for importing food and the pollution of our environment with transportation of food so we must protect the farming community we now have in this township, and look to increasing our productive farm land.
The last four years (2010-2014) 18 local businesses opened in the township with 10 being commercial business. With our limited supply of industrial land we need to promote our township to the high tech industry and encourage them to set up in Uxbridge as they require less land use and create employment.
With more industry and our excellent recreational facilities and the preservation of our farmland we can develop our community where citizens can live, work, and play.
The Environment is a very serious issue and this is one of the most important issues that can affect the farmers production and success.
Our environment , our health and our success is priceless and no amount of money can replace either one without all of us being part of the solution.
So working together to protect the environment and our land will be the successful future we all want for our children.
Building On Our Past
Uxbridge has been vigilant in the protection of their heritage facilities and this is our history, our legacy to leave to future generations so they can learn from our past mistakes and improve on our ability to protect our past and learn from those before us.
Success comes in many different forms but with respect for the past, which is our heritage, the present and the future can be protected.
I have worked hard in the Township to develop programs that would encourage tourism, new businesses, and a recreational/cultural life for the residents of Uxbridge by building on our past and looking to the present and future.
I was instrumental in developing the 1st marketing DVD of Uxbridge to attract new Doctors so every family would have access to healthcare within our Township. The DVD also promoted the township’s recreational facilities and programs, our heritage buildings and programs, and our successful farming community and to show the hard work by the many volunteer groups assisting to make Uxbridge a community for all residents of all ages.
I was the founding member and organizer of:
Uxbridge to Road Watch, Lucy Maud committee, Thomas Foster Committee, Registration Fair, Volunteer Fair, Fridays at the Foster concerts, Annual Craft show fundraiser for the Goodwood Community Centre.
I was the organizer of:
The 1st international Women’s Day, The 1st Talent show for all ages and entertainment, The 1st Sports Day for Goodwood
Assisted in organizing:
I created two Time Capsules for the Township which are stored in the Foster Memorial, One for 2000 and one for our bi-centennial 2005-06, The Township’s Bi-Centennial opening day Parade, Past Member of Goodwood Lions and organized spring fest
I am the Chair of the Salvation Army Unit for Uxbridge and this is Salvation Army Unit is run completely by volunteers with no paid staff. So all funds raised assist those less fortunate.
I have organized Salvation Army’s:
Christmas Hamper program, Fundraiser with the Kettle every year, Programs for cooking on a budget, Seniors snow removal.
Assist families with food, expenses, jobs, budgeting, parenting courses, Assist families for children to go to camp, Our school back pack program for children to attend school with all necessary materials.
I SUPPORT LOWERING THE SPEED LIMIT ON OUR RURAL ROADS (WHICH WAS IN MY SPEECH IN 2014)
THIS IS SO IMPORTANT FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN, PETS, WILD LIFE, FARM VEHICLES, SCHOOL BUSES
Introduced to the Council of 2014 a report on Traffic Calming to assist with the speeding on our highways and rural roads (which has not been adopted )
I also believe residents have the right to live peacefully and enjoy their investment -their properties without interference from others. We must not allow a few to make life intolerable for the majority. There must be a solution developed that allows everyone to continue to live together.
I ALSO SUPPORT ALLOWING APARTMENTS IN RURAL HOMES IN THE TOWNSHIP TO ASSIST YOUNG PEOPLE OF FINDING AFFORDABLE HOUSING WITHIN THEIR OWN COMMUNITY, SENIORS WOULD BE ASSISTED IN STAYING IN THEIR HOME AND ON THEIR FARMS, AND THE INCOME WOULD ASSIST FARMERS WITH EXPENSES ON THE FARM.
ALSO APARTMENTS WILL GIVE THE FARMERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO HIRE STAFF/FAMILIES TO WORK ON THE FARM AND LIVE ON THE FARM.
I ALSO BELIEVE THAT EXPANDING THE BUY LOCAL SLOGON WITH RECIPES FOR INFORMATION ON THE PRODUCE BEING SOLD, THIS WILL GIVE RESIDENTS THE INFORMATION FOR BETTER NUTRITIONAL DIETS AND MORE VARIETY IN THEIR DIETS AS WELL. THIS WOULD ALSO INCREASE THE RESIDENTS SPENDING AS THEY WOULD BUY IN SEASON TO COMPLIMENT THEIR MEALS AND TO FREEZE FOR LATER USE.
BY FREEZING LOCAL SEASONAL PRODUCE FAMILIES CAN STRETCH THEIR DOLLARS WITH BUYING FOOD IN SEASON AND ALSO SUPPORT OUR LOCAL FARMERS.
Our farming community are multi-million dollar businesses and these businesses create recreational opportunities, attract tourists, create work, supply our food and feed the many communities beyond so it is vital that we protect our farmers as they are creating a place to live, work and play. The perfect community for families.
